Bringing positive emotions into your pregnancy through Gratitude.

Gratitude is not only a strength of character, but it also has the benefit of increasing positive emotions. Research shows that when we  grow our experiences of gratitude with simple shows of appreciation at gratitude-webleast once a week, we feel happier. When we increase our positive to negative emotion ratio, we enhance our openness to new experiences.

If you would like to increase positive emotions in your pregnancy, here are 3 ways to add positive emotions to your pregnancy through Gratitude.

  1. keep a gratitude journal, before going to bed each night write in your journal three things you are grateful for from that day.  If you don’t feel compelled to keep a journal, try to add random acts of gratitude to your day.
  2. If you don’t feel compelled to keep a journal, try to add random acts of gratitude to your day.
  3. or write a letter of gratitude to someone expressing your gratitude for something you were grateful.

Sept 21st is World Gratitude day to celebrate here is a poem written by the Dalai Lama.  

A gift of gratitude 

Every day, think as you wake up:

“Today I am fortunate to have woken up.
I am alive; I have a precious human life.
I am not going to waste it.

I am going to use
all my energies to develop myself,
to expand my heart out to others,
to achieve enlightenment for
the benefit of all beings.

I am going to have
kind thoughts towards others.
I am not going to get angry,
or think badly about others.

I am going to benefit others
as much as I can.”
